Lenz's Law Magnetic Braking - Physics Class Set of Aluminium Tubes and Magnets Magnetism
A class set of aluminium tubes and magnets for your Senior Physics Class.
Included are six aluminium tubes, each with a small vial containing five small cylindrical neodymium super magnets and five larger cylindrical neodymium super magnets
Students can explore Lenz's Law and magnetic braking for themselves.
The aluminium tubes are 300mm long, the small cylindrical magnets have a length of 5mm and 3mm and the large cylindrical magnets have a length of 6mm and diameter of 4mm.
Accompanying worksheets can be digitally downloaded which turns this activity from a qualitative experience to a quantitive experiment involving measurements of time, calculations of average velocity and graphing of dependant versus independent variables.
This equipment could first be introduced in Year 11 Physics during the study of motion and can be undertaken with a lesson on SUVAT motion equations, forces and Newton's Laws.
The equipment can then be reintroduced when studying electromagnetism for a closer look at Lenz's Law and magnetic braking.
The equipment comes in a sturdy case with high quality foam infill.
